Know What You're Clear On

Sometimes we need to put our glasses on to see clearly. I'm at that age where I need glasses with a variable lens, or faraway things can be blurry and what's in front of my nose is mostly unreadable. With or without glasses, though, I see how I see, and will never experience how others' sense of sight may vary from mine. For instance, it's easy to wonder how an artist like Van Gogh- known for his bold and emotive brush strokes and also for his mental health struggles- might have seen differently. In fact, a quick Google search surmises that Van Gogh may have had a condition called Xanthopsia, causing him to see more yellow.

The thing, again, is first to be aware. If we know what we're clear on and what we're not clear on, we can take action and refine our goals and processes. Clarity can help inform us in our creative projects.

Sometimes solutions may lie right in front of our noses when we look through a different lens. Where are you at today? What assumptions, variables, or obstacles can you challenge and reduce? Today I'm going to decide which paper and media I'll use to create illustrations for my next book. How about you, what might happen if you take time to get clarity and let that guide your creative decision making today?
