Sleep Well

Not only is it important to take a break, but to get a good night's sleep every night.
Some of us creative folk have a hard time winding it all down at night. Here's what I've found best helps promote a good night's rest:
  • Avoiding screens for at least 2 hours before bedtime
  • Doing some gentle forward folding and hamstring stretches for a few minutes to promote the rest/digest/relax parasympathetic nervous system
  • Getting to bed within the same half hour each night (if I go earlier, I toss and turn awhile; and if I go later, I've often gotten my second wind and lay awake for too long)
  • Reading a few pages of something uplifting and thinking positive thoughts right before bed
  • Sleeping with my eyes shaded so that light doesn't interrupt my sleep cycles
  • And, most importantly, sleeping on a quality, comfy mattress that doesn't cave in and make me sleep on tilt
I've recently treated myself to an organic Avocado Green mattress, the most popular organic and natural mattress brand in the US, and it's made a huge improvement in my sleep. This mattress is GOTS certified and Made Safe Certified®, free of all harmful chemicals, and made of natural organic latex, wool, and cotton, all sourced sustainably (vegan Avocado Green mattress is also available). This mattress is the most comfortable I've ever slept on. I also love Avocado Green's organic cotton sheets and duvet cover, they're so soft and lush. (Note, I love these so much I'm now an Avocado Green Mattress Affiliate, and will earn a small commission to help support my blog if you purchase, at no added cost to you, through my links. Thank you).

Ah, just thinking about it makes me look forward to bedtime. I hope you, too, get a good night's sleep tonight so we can all have another great day of creating tomorrow.
